Top tips for making sure 2021 is better than 2020

Following nearly 12 months of social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions, the early forecast for 2021 looks to be more of the same. So, what can we do to ensure 2021 is better than 2020?

Top tips for 2021

Connect – it's fun to collaborate

There’s no better way of getting to know your colleagues than working together on a project. The old adage that “two heads are better than one”, could become “two heads are better than one, and it’s more fun”.

Be Fair – appreciate your resilience

We did it! We survived 2020. We innovated. We adapted. We suffered losses. We got sad and we got mad. But we got through. We worked together. We rebounded. We were resilient. Appreciate your own and your team’s resilience.

Empower – reflect on your strengths

What are the things that you really enjoy doing? The tasks and activities that really energise you. Make a list. Look for the common threads. These are your strengths. Which of your strengths aren’t you using enough? How can you make more use of them?

Challenge – variety is the spice of life

Work and life can be very samey at the moment. Variety brings novelty, and it activates reward centres in the brain. Create projects to connect your goals with team member strengths. They’ll help energise the team and bring variety into the working week.

Inspire – celebrate victories

It’s very tempting to put off celebrating anything at the moment, but let’s hold on to our victorious spirit! Talking about what team members are doing well. Feel excited about recent wins to help boost team morale.
